Role overview
Department: Technical Services / Engineering
Reports to: Service Manager / Lifting Supervisor
The Operator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of technical equipment at client sites. This role combines strong hydraulic expertise with customer-facing skills, ensuring that equipment operates reliably and efficiently while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
The Operator plays a critical role in maintaining long-term customer relationships through timely support and effective problem resolution.
Key Activities:
- Maintenance and operation of the lifting tool (mechanical, electrical, and software components)
- Knowledge of controllers
- Commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting of the lifting tool for wind turbines
Key responsibilities
Technical Support & Maintenance
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems at customer sites.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and reliability.
- Diagnose technical issues and implement effective on-site solutions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately document service calls, including identified issues, actions taken, and parts used.
- Prepare service reports and maintain service logs for internal and customer use.
Customer Interaction
- Provide professional and courteous support during customer visits.
- Train customers or end-users on system operation, best practices, and basic maintenance.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact between the company and its clients.
Problem Solving & Analysis
- Analyze recurring problems and recommend long-term solutions or design improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering or R&D teams by providing feedback on field issues and potential enhancements.
Travel & Field Work
- Travel to customer sites, sometimes on short notice, often working independently.
- Manage field assignments effectively, including scheduling and logistics.
Inventory & Tools Management
- Manage and maintain tools, spare parts, and service equipment.
- Ensure all equipment used meets safety and calibration standards.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies during field operations.
- Ensure work complies with relevant regulations and standards.
What we’re looking for
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in a technical field (preferred).
- Technical diploma (mechanics, electrical engineering, mechatronics)
- Proficiency in English (international teams)
- Willingness to travel and work in shifts or rotations (for offshore work)
- Experience with control systems and hydraulic systems.
- Required certifications:
- Medical OGUK Standard + Chester Step certificate
- GWO Sea Survival
- GWO First Aid
- GWO Fire Awareness
- GWO Working at Heights + Advanced Rescue
- 1 year validation
- GWO Manual Handling
- HUET (or BOSIET, or FOET)
- Compressed Air – Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS)
- GWO certificates
